Kevin Bastin
Kevin joined Sideline Surgeon’s Board of Directors in April of 2023. Before this appointment, Kevin worked in various Allied Healthcare/Athletic settings
Kevin is a native of Quiet Dell, West Virginia and was a 1984 graduate of West Virginia University with a BS in Physical Education and Athletic Training.. He obtained his Master’s Degree from the University of Miami FL in 1985 in Sports Health. After working 2 years at the University of Louisville, and 2 years in Morgantown West Virginia at Morgantown Physical Therapy Associates, Kevin became the Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Washington Redskins in 1989. He was part of the team that won the 1991-1992 Super Bowl. In 2001 Kevin took the job of Head Athletic Trainer with the expansion Houston Texans. He remained in this role until 2009 and then was charged with starting a Sports Medicine Outreach program with Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston Texas. In 2014 Kevin was recruited to become the Head Athletic Trainer for the Detroit Lions. Kevin retired from the NFL in 2019 and returned to Houston to assume his prior role with Memorial Hermann Hospital as Director of Athletic Training Services. The NFL came calling again when the Detroit Lions asked Kevin to return to the franchise in 2021. Bastin accepted this position and served in the role of Head Athletic Trainer until retirement again in 2023.
Kevin was part of the Athletic Training Staff of the year during his time with the Washington Redskins, and was named to the West Virginia University CPASS Hall of Fame in 2013.
Kevin and his wife Carrie reside in Houston Texas.
